On May 24, a 31-year-old woman with a coronavirus infection experienced a pulmonary thromboembolism five days after giving birth, resulting in her sudden death. News.am reports that the Ministry of Health has noted that the previous day recorded six deaths in patients confirmed to have the coronavirus, but these fatalities were attributed to other illnesses. The total number of such cases has reached 39.

It is important to mention that one of the deaths attributed to other causes is a maternal death. The 31-year-old woman developed a pulmonary thromboembolism five days post-delivery, and the preliminary diagnosis indicates this led to her sudden demise. The final cause of death will be determined after a forensic examination. This incident marks the first recorded maternal death of the year.
