It’s Time to Fulfill the Promises We Made at Least in the Last Two Years – Davit Sanasaryan

Davit Sanasaryan, the suspended head of the Audit Chamber, wrote:

“Two years ago on this day, I was appointed as the head of the Audit Chamber, and together with several colleagues, we started to establish a very important institution for the state, which took on the responsibility of uncovering the previous authorities’ crimes, overseeing the financial resources of state institutions, improving their efficiency, and preventing corrupt phenomena in the new Armenia.

I must say that founding a new state structure, regulating the entire legal process, and gathering staff from scratch is quite a complicated process, and despite all the difficulties, we have done this with pleasure and great responsibility. I can confidently say that the Audit Chamber is a well-established body.

Of course, the case against me is a conspiracy that has crossed all bounds of absurdity; they illegally kept me away from my duties for exactly a year, and even today, there is no end in sight for the judicial processes. Nevertheless, I have never regretted for a moment that I had a small part in the effort to remove the plunderers of Armenia from distorting the fate of the country.

Even though I am not satisfied with several issues, it is still clear that there will be no return to the old ways. It is time for us to rid ourselves of obstructive laws, regulatory legal acts, and to fulfill the promises we made at least in the last two years.

Dear compatriots, friends in the struggle, and like-minded individuals, holding the governing power accountable, expressing dissatisfaction with the process of change, or presenting new demands is your right and duty. But I urge you not to fall for the propaganda and lies of those who have squandered Armenia’s opportunities for years. They must first answer for their actions.

As I have said, I repeat once more that no fabricated criminal case or obstacle will keep me from the fight for the empowerment and development of Armenia (including Artsakh), and my recent passivity is not indifference; I simply recognize the importance of my silence.

Stay strong and healthy. I love you all.”
