Extraordinary Commission Meeting to Be Held Due to Gogyan's Resignation

The Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, announced on his Facebook page: "I have decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports on May 25 at 12:00 PM."

This decision is a response to recent events that have received widespread attention, particularly the resignation of the Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, Sambat Gogyan, as well as his statement released on May 14, which claims that one of the reasons for his resignation is the presence of obvious translations and plagiarism in the doctoral thesis of the Acting Rector of the Armenian State University of Economics. According to his assertion, the acting rector still holds his position due to connections and patronage.

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the deputies, Sambat Gogyan and Grisha Tamrazyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, will also be present at the NA Committee meeting.
