Anush Ghavalyan Resigns from the Position of Advisor to the Speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly

The advisor to the Speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly, Anush Ghavalyan, announced her resignation on her Facebook page. She stated, “There are principles and values that are important to uphold, especially in politics. With this understanding, today I resign from the position of advisor to the Speaker of the National Assembly.”

Ghavalyan did not elaborate in detail on her six years of service, noting that significant changes aimed at ensuring the transparency of Parliament's work and organizing external relations were carried out in plain sight. “Of course, I do not intend to take all the credit for this work myself; it is the result of teamwork and democratic governance,” she added.

She described the supportive leadership qualities she experienced, stating that when a leader encourages new and creative approaches, patiently listens to all arguments until the end—even when in disagreement—provides constructive feedback instead of criticism, always allows for decision-making freedom, and expects honesty in expression, it demonstrates true governance principles. “This makes one realize that the textbook examples of governance are based on real-life prototypes,” Ghavalyan noted.

She expressed her public gratitude to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ashot Ghulyan, for the opportunities provided, collaborative work in the governmental system, and the invaluable political experience gained, which would have been impossible to obtain outside of Parliament, even with professional education.

Ghavalyan also thanked her team, which has become family, her partners in the Artsakh and Armenian governmental systems, her beloved journalists, and the unknown individuals who have inspired her with their words or letters. “Until new initiatives,” she concluded.
