Former Resident of Children's Support Center Arrested for Stabbing 16-Year-Old
In connection with the incident that took place at the administrative building of the "Zatik Children's Support Center," a criminal case was initiated on May 11, 2020, by the Kanaker-Zeitun Division of the RA Police under Part 1 of Article 112 and Article 118 of the RA Criminal Code. The case was subsequently received on May 12, 2020, by the Investigation Department of the Yerevan Investigation Division of the Kanaker-Zeitun Administrative District and accepted for proceedings.
The investigation revealed that a former resident of the mentioned center, on May 1, 2020, around 18:00, while in the hallway on the second floor of the state non-commercial organization "Zatik Children's Support Center," attempted to speak with one of the students of the organization. However, due to the latter's avoidance of conversation and providing false information, the former resident initially reproached the boy in the hallway and then intentionally inflicted bodily harm with a folding knife that he had with him, stabbing the boy several times in various parts of his body, causing severe damage endangering his life.
Based on the collection of sufficient evidence, the former resident has been charged with the act provided for in part 2 of point 9 of Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code (deliberate infliction of severe bodily harm). A motion for the application of a preventive measure of detention has been submitted to the court, which has been granted. The investigation is ongoing.
