VIDEO: Yerevan's Public Transport Resumes Operations, Municipality Releases Footage

Starting May 18, Yerevan's public transport has resumed operations, albeit under special conditions. According to the order of the Governor, new rules are in effect for the operation of transport services to reduce the risk of infection.

“The situation is being fully controlled. All our buses have returned to their routes. We have implemented all necessary measures in the urban public transport sector, including the installation of special hand sanitizer dispensers. All required normative documents are posted to ensure the public is informed about the rules regarding cash handling, as well as the prohibition of entry without masks and gloves, and the restriction on exceeding passenger limits,” said Elbak Tarposhyan, the director of Yerevan Bus CJSC.

In case of violations of the established rules, police can stop public transport vehicles, disembark passengers, and move the vehicle to a penalty parking lot, where the driver and/or the transport company will be fined. Drivers are instructed to halt the journey if passengers do not comply with the rules until the violation is rectified.

Public transport is disinfected with special materials after each trip, and at the end of the day, disinfection is carried out by a professional organization.
