Italians Are Very Similar to Armenians: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the midfielder of the Armenian national team and the Italian club Roma, has given an extensive interview to the program "A Day With...", which operates under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy in Armenia. Mkhitaryan spoke about how his family members support, motivate, and push him forward.
“Even before I got married, I had people by my side who were my driving force—my mother, sister, and father, who has not been physically with us for a long time, along with my other family members, my brothers, friends... Yes, I play football for myself, but I want them to be happy too. If I play well, they are happy,” Mkhitaryan said.
“But after I got married and my son was born, I even think about them during training; they are always on my mind, pushing me forward, and I know I have to work hard and play. It’s true that there hasn't been a game since my son was born, but I hope there will be many more games to come,” he added.
The captain of the national team also mentioned what his main goal is at Roma, and noted that Italians are very similar to Armenians. “I have felt very good in Italy, in Rome, since the day I set foot in this country. I feel at home here. I would be very happy if I could stay here. Gradually, I am getting better at Italian, I can communicate with Italians without difficulties and give interviews in that language. Living with Italians is very easy. They are similar to Armenians, and I can say that the only difference is the language,” he stated.
