This information was provided by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee.
During the preliminary investigation, immediate investigative actions and operational-search measures were implemented, revealing several circumstances and motives surrounding the case.
Specifically, it was established that the resident of Echmiadzin entered the home of a 29-year-old man located on Charents Street in Armavir around 02:40 on the day of the incident through an open window. He fired at the young man with a 16mm caliber hunting rifle with intent to unlawfully take his life, resulting in the young man's death at the scene. The Echmiadzin resident fled the scene.
On the same day, the Vagharsapat Medical Center reported that a 41-year-old resident of Geghakert village had received medical assistance for stab and cut wounds to the neck and chest, diagnosed with traumatic shock.
It was clarified that the injuries were sustained during a confrontation with the same resident of Echmiadzin.
Specifically, it was revealed that while fleeing the scene of the murder on a bicycle, the young man entered a plot of land owned by the 41-year-old resident of Geghakert. The landowner noticed him and attempted to ascertain why he was on his property, during which the Echmiadzin resident, with the direct intent to unlawfully take his life, inflicted knife wounds on vital organs of the landowner—specifically, on the left side of the chest, the left side of the abdomen, and the back of the neck—causing bodily harm, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he did not complete the crime and fled the scene.
Several investigative actions have been carried out during the preliminary investigation, including inspections of the crime scenes, seizures, searches, and collection of samples. As a result of the implemented measures, bullets suitable for firing from a smoothbore hunting rifle were discovered along with a handmade gun and a knife.
Numerous examinations have been appointed, including forensic, corpse forensic, genetic, chemical, trace evidence, biological, and computer technical examinations.
