Tragic Car Accident Near Chiva Village: One Dead and Five Injured

On May 10, at 14:58, the National Crisis Management Center of Armenia received information about a car accident near Chiva village in the Vayots Dzor region. A firefighting rescue team from the regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene.

It was discovered that on the 100th kilometer of the M-2 highway, which connects Yerevan and Meghri, a collision occurred between a 'VAZ-21099' vehicle (driver: Hayrapet B., born in 1969) and a 'Ford' vehicle (driver: Sergo M., born in 1986). As a result of the accident, both drivers and the passengers of the 'VAZ-21099' car (45-year-old Meri G., 23-year-old Sona H., and 21-year-old Stepan B.) sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Prior to the arrival of rescuers, the driver and passengers of the 'VAZ-21099' were hospitalized at the Yeghgneghdzor Medical Center. Rescuers assisted Sergo M. by transferring him to a civilian vehicle, and he was transported to the Yeghgneghdzor Medical Center, where doctors assessed his condition as satisfactory. The health conditions of Sona H. and Meri G. were classified as moderate severity, while Stepan B.'s condition was deemed critical. Hayrapet B. passed away without regaining consciousness.

Rescuers de-energized the vehicles, closed the gas cylinder valve of the 'VAZ-21099,' transported the car using a tow truck, and conducted cleaning operations on the roadway.
