Five More Arrested in Case of Incidents in Gavarr
In the main investigative department of the Special Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, regarding the criminal case of the murder of two individuals and causing gunshot injuries to four others in Gavarr, charges have been brought against 21 individuals. Additionally, five more individuals have been arrested, and decisions have been made regarding four others on suspicion of participating in mass riots.
Applications have been submitted to the court to apply detention as a preventive measure against the five individuals. It is worth noting that criminal cases have been initiated for the mentioned incidents based on Article 104 (Murder), part 2, point 6; Article 235 (Illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, military supplies, explosive substances, or explosive devices), part 1; Article 34-104 (Attempted murder), part 2, points 1 and 7; Article 185 (Deliberate destruction or damage of property), part 1; and Article 225 (Mass riots), part 2. These cases have been consolidated into one proceeding, and the investigation is being conducted by a group of investigators from the main and Gegharkunik regional investigation departments of the Special Investigative Committee, as per the instruction of the Chairman of the Committee.
The investigation is ongoing, and information regarding procedural decisions based on the evidence obtained will be provided periodically. Notice: A suspect or accused is considered innocent until proven guilty under the law, by a legally binding court judgment.
