Charges Filed Against 17 Individuals in Events in Gavarr
In the Investigation Committee of the Republic of Armenia, a total of 17 individuals have been charged in connection with the criminal case regarding the murder of two individuals and the infliction of gunshot wounds on four others in Gavarr, as well as mass riots accompanied by violence and property destruction perpetrated by a group of individuals. Additionally, four more individuals have been arrested on suspicion of participating in the mass unrest.
It should be noted that criminal cases were initiated regarding the aforementioned events under Article 104, Part 2, Clause 6 (murder), Article 235, Part 1 (illegal acquisition, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices), Article 34-104, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 7 (attempted murder), Article 185, Part 1 (deliberate destruction or damage to property), and Article 225, Part 2 (mass riots) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. These have been combined into one procedure, and the investigation is being conducted by a group of investigators from the Special Investigation Department of the Investigation Committee and the Gegharkunik Regional Investigation Department, as instructed by the President of the Investigation Committee.
The investigation is ongoing. Information regarding procedural decisions based on the evidence obtained will be provided periodically.
