Stabbing at 'Zatik' Children's Support Center; Child in Intensive Care
Yesterday evening, the operational management center of the Yerevan police received a report that a conflict occurred among children at the 'Zatik' Children's Support Center, located at 145/2 Sarkavag Street in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district, which ended with a stabbing.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, before the police arrived at the center, the 'Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery' reported to the Kanaker-Zeytun police that a child had been transferred there with a diagnosis of "lacerations and stab wounds to the right thigh, left forearm, and the back of the chest, with external bleeding."
A police operational group from the Kanaker-Zeytun division was dispatched to the hospital.
The police discovered that the injured child is a 17-year-old teenager identified as V.D. The doctors informed the police that the child is currently in the intensive care unit on respiratory support and is unable to provide an explanation about the incident.
While the doctors at the 'Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery' were fighting for the child's life, the Kanaker-Zeytun police determined that V.D. had been stabbed by 19-year-old Karen Arakelyan, a resident of Yerevan. After hours of explanatory work, Arakelyan voluntarily presented himself to the police, bringing with him the weapon used in the crime—a knife.
