Charges Filed Against 15 Individuals in Gavar Incident Case

Ashot Sargsyan, advisor to the Minister of Health of Armenia, published a photo on his Facebook page, stating that the Investigative Committee of Armenia has filed charges against 15 individuals in connection with the criminal case regarding the murders of two persons and gunshot injuries to four others in Gavar, along with mass riots involving violence and property destruction.

This information was provided by the press service of the Investigative Committee. It should be noted that criminal cases were initiated regarding these incidents under Article 104 (murder) Part 2 Clause 6, Article 235 (illegal possession of weapons, ammunition, explosive materials or devices) Part 1, Article 34-104 (attempted murder) Part 2 Clauses 1 and 7, Article 185 (intentional destruction or damage to property) Part 1, and Article 225 (mass riots) Part 2. These were combined into a single proceeding, and the investigation is being carried out by a team formed of investigators from the main department of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of Armenia and the Gegharkunik regional investigative department upon the directive of the President of the Investigative Committee.

As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions carried out in the criminal case, charges have been filed against 15 individuals: 13 under Part 2 of Article 225, one under Part 4 of Article 225, and one under Parts 2 of Article 225 and 34-104 Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Motions for the selection of detention as a preventive measure have been submitted to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan for these 15 defendants.

Additionally, a decision has been made to arrest three other individuals in connection with the criminal case, one of whom has been located and apprehended. The investigation continues, and information regarding procedural decisions made based on the evidence obtained will be provided regularly.
