Using National Rhetoric to Oppress the Nation for Over 25 Years: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the events of April 24, 2020, during a live broadcast on Facebook today. He noted that the response from society demonstrates that, despite the extraordinary conditions, the commemorative events were successfully organized at a high level.
“When we declared that we should, with regret and by judging ourselves, close the roads leading to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, there were very specific comments from certain circles, as could be expected, claiming that this anti-national, pro-Turkish government is intentionally closing Tsitsernakaberd to forget the history of the Genocide, etc. We say that using national rhetoric has impoverished the nation for over 25 years, plundered the nation under the guise of the most elevated national slogans. I do not trust those who, under the guise of national slogans, including exploiting even acceptable services they provided to the nation, regarded that as legitimacy—humiliating the nation, robbing the nation, earning millions, billions, laundering money, and yes, this is our understanding of the national,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during the live broadcast.
