Trump's Immigration Ban Could Become Permanent, WP Reports

One of U.S. President Donald Trump’s chief advisors, Stephen Miller, has stated that the immigration ban signed by the president could become permanent for certain categories of immigrants, according to The Washington Post.

Miller indicated that the Trump administration is considering measures to limit temporary employment for foreign workers. According to him, the executive order is being viewed in the long-term context.

Previously, President Trump signed an executive order instituting a temporary 60-day ban on immigration to the U.S. The order pertains to applicants for green cards, aimed at protecting Americans who are trying to regain employment lost due to the coronavirus pandemic. The ban will be reviewed after the 60-day period.

The U.S. president's order to freeze the issuance of green cards is only one part of a longer-term strategy aimed at reducing immigration to the United States.
