This was stated by Armen Begoyan, acting director of the ‘Greening and Environmental Protection’ SNCO, in an interview with Tert.am while discussing the decision made by the wife of Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan that he should resign.

According to Begoyan, this demand from the mayor's wife has nothing to do with the work of the SNCO, as they consistently receive positive feedback, including from the mayor himself. “The rest suggests that what started with the mayor's wife is merely a process happening in a personal sphere. I do not want to step into that sphere. We all know that the mayor's wife has no authority in the city hall to hire or fire someone,” he said.

When asked if he had previously known the mayor's wife, Begoyan replied no, stating that there are even rumors that it was the mayor's wife who placed him in his position, but he denied this, saying that the topic discussed in the media does not correspond to reality. He noted that he became acquainted with the mayor's wife only after starting his job at the city hall.

In response to the observation that it seems the mayor's wife frequently visits the city hall, Begoyan said, “Of course. What I am speaking about now, I can easily prove.” He reiterated that there have been no complaints about his work, and he often sees comments regarding the work he has done, noting that Hayk Marutyan is doing well in the area of greenery, yet at the same time, he highlighted that no websites or media under the city hall's authority are covering this work; instead, the city hall and the mayor's spokesperson are spreading absurd news.

“The issue is not whether I should leave or not; I am not attached to that chair at all. The issue is the manner of my dismissal, the illegality, the work of the city hall, and what has occurred before my eyes. I want to protect legality,” he said, adding that in any case, the ongoing process cannot lead to the dissolution of the structure.
