The Wound Will Heal When Turkey Comes to Terms with Its Dark Past, Says Charles Tanok

Former Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom and European Parliament Charles Tanok calls on British and EU officials to continue the fight for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. In an interview with Armenpress, Tanok referenced the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“Despite the fact that more than a century has passed, time has not erased the deep sense of injustice felt by the Armenian people around the world. The horrific crimes committed by the ruling Young Turks of the Ottoman Empire 105 years ago continue to be a wound that will not heal. It can only be healed when Turkey comes to terms with its dark past during World War I,” said Charles Tanok.

He also noted that during his 20 years as a British member of the European Parliament and as an ancient friend of Armenia, he has admired the achievements of the Armenian diaspora in Great Britain. He expresses hope and calls on British and EU political and civic leaders to take action.
