Even Visiting Tsitsernakaberd Today Was Accompanied by Friends and Relatives, Says Deputy from the BHK

It turns out that even visiting the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial was today accompanied by friends and relatives. This was noted by Iveta Tonoyan, a deputy from the BHK faction in the National Assembly, on her Facebook page.

“Today, the global Armenian community commemorated the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Due to the current situation, it was decided that only representatives of the highest leadership could visit the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial. Of course, I understand that such restrictions were necessary for security reasons, but if in a parliamentary governance model country, deputies were deprived of the opportunity to pay their respects to the innocent victims of 1915 at the memorial, then how can we understand the recently filmed videos featuring Mayor Marutyan and provincial governors?”

“With the permission to film a clip with the participation of the Mayor and governors, perhaps parliamentary faction representatives should also have been granted the opportunity to pay tribute to the victims of the Great Genocide. Otherwise, it seems that even visiting the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial was accompanied by friends and relatives today...” wrote the BHK deputy.
