No Discussions on Robert Kocharyan's Release from Arrest: Spokesperson Denies Rumors

Various anonymous and fabricated rumors have been circulating since yesterday through different media outlets regarding a supposed meeting between Armenia's Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan, and head of the Special Investigative Service Sasun Khachatryan.

According to these rumors, they allegedly met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to convince him of the necessity to change the pre-trial detention of defendant Robert Kocharyan and to release him.

This was stated by Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General's Office, on his Facebook page. He added, “I would not have seen the need to address these absurdities if certain circles did not attempt to present these blatant falsehoods as convincing and truthful with serious facial expressions while providing ‘analyses’ and comments on them.”

“I am compelled to state that these reports have no bearing on reality; no meetings of such a format or content have occurred or can occur, and therefore, there have been no discussions about the release of Robert Kocharyan from detention, nor can there be. This is a matter within the framework of a criminal procedure, which can only be discussed in that context. I urge everyone to refrain from attempting to mislead the public with such products of imagination,” he said.
