Criminal Case Initiated in Connection with the Murder of a 29-Year-Old Resident of Kapan
A criminal case has been initiated by the Syunik regional investigative department regarding the murder of a 29-year-old resident of Kapan under Article 104 (Murder) and Article 235 (Illegal acquisition, sale, possession, transportation, or carrying of weapons, military equipment, explosives, or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On April 22, 2020, at 06:50, a call was received from a citizen reporting that there was a body in the area of the G. Nzhdeh Memorial Complex in the city of Kapan. An investigative-operational group dispatched to the scene discovered the body of a man with gunshot wounds near the entrance of the memorial complex.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under Article 104 and Article 235 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. It has been established that the individual who sustained gunshot wounds is a 29-year-old resident of Kapan.
A number of urgent investigative actions have been conducted, including an examination of the scene, during which two fired cartridges were found. Complex expert examinations have been appointed, including forensic medical, forensic ballistic, forensic biological, and fiber analysis examinations.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Measures are being undertaken to clarify all circumstances of the incident and to identify and locate the individuals suspected of committing the crime, as well as to verify the details mentioned in witness testimonies.
