Details of Ax Murder: Man Found Dead at Neighbor's House While Homeowner Was Absent
On April 21, at around 1:50 PM, the police in Armenia's Chambarak received a report of a man's body found in one of the houses on 2nd Street of Vahan village. An operational group dispatched to the scene determined that the 66-year-old man had been killed with an axe. This was stated by the Public Relations and Information Department of the Armenian Police.
"The man's body was at the neighbor's house, and the homeowner was absent. Chambarak criminal investigators, in collaboration with regional administration and territorial investigative body personnel, gathered evidence that the 62-year-old homeowner had struck the visiting neighbor with an axe. The latter died at the scene. Chambarak police, in cooperation with their colleagues from Sevan, located the suspect hours after the incident in Lichashen village and took him into custody. During the search, grenades were discovered. The man was presented to the authority conducting the investigation into the incident and was arrested. The axe used in the crime has been confiscated. Expert examinations have been appointed. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing," the report stated.
Regarding the case, a message from the Information and Public Relations Division of the Armenian Investigative Committee noted that a criminal case has been initiated in the Sevan investigative division of the Gegharkunik regional administration under the characteristics of Article 104 (Murder) of the Armenian Criminal Code. The resident of Vahan village has been arrested on suspicion of committing the aforementioned crime. Relevant expert examinations have been appointed, and other investigative and procedural actions are being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the case. The preliminary investigation continues.
