Considering the Dangers of Coronavirus, Let's Celebrate Easter at Home Surrounded by Family Members, Tigran Avinyan
The Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Police, Tigran Avinyan, has called on social media to celebrate Easter at home tomorrow and refrain from going out or participating in church ceremonies.
“Dear fellow countrymen, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Easter). For followers of the Apostolic Church, including myself, Easter is one of the most important holidays. At the same time, considering the unpredictable chains of coronavirus transmission and potential dangers, I urgently urge and ask you not to go out tomorrow, to stay at home and not to participate in church ceremonies. Let’s celebrate this sacred holiday at home, surrounded by our family members this year. I am confident that we all understand that I make this call and request with the utmost intention of preserving public health and safety. I wish to mention that under any circumstances, the police will prevent all human gatherings. Let us show discipline and responsibility and prevent the spread of infection. Christ is risen from the dead, blessed is the Resurrection of Christ!”
