Ministry of Foreign Affairs Provides Details on Return of 35 Armenian Students from the USA

The Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has provided details regarding the return of 35 Armenian students studying in various high schools in the United States through the FLEX program.

According to the spokesperson's comments, it was noted that the Armenian Embassy in the USA maintained constant communication with the Armenian students of the FLEX program located in various states of the USA and with the Armenian representative of the program.

As a result of an agreement reached between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia, and in close cooperation with the American Councils, on April 9, the return of Armenian and Georgian students studying in various high schools in the USA through the FLEX program to Armenia and Georgia has been organized.

Under the coordination of the Armenian Embassy in the USA, safe transportation of the students has been ensured by the American Councils from 19 states in the USA to the city of Chicago, and then to Armenia via a Doha-Tbilisi-Yerevan flight.

At Chicago Airport, health and safety supplies were provided to the Armenian students by the Armenian Embassy in the USA and the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Chicago. Arrangements were also made for the reception and accompaniment of Armenian students at Doha Airport until their departure to the next terminal.

As a result of this cooperation, 34 students and one student studying in the USA under the American ACES program are returning to Armenia. Upon their return to Armenia, they will be subjected to a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

This is yet another good example of the cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in returning citizens from various countries amidst the situation caused by the spread of the new coronavirus. We express our gratitude to the American Councils for organizing the transfer of Armenian students swiftly and smoothly, as well as to our Georgian partners for their support and effective cooperation.
