Yandex.Taxi to Provide Financial Support to Drivers Affected by Coronavirus

Yandex.Taxi is establishing a partner support fund in countries where the service operates. The financial resources will be directed to drivers affected by the coronavirus. The total volume of the fund exceeds 6 million dollars. Armenia is thus one of the first international markets where the support program is launched.

The fund's resources will be allocated to drivers who have contracted the coronavirus or have been placed in quarantine after coming into contact with infected individuals. The program is designed for all those who work regularly with the service and actively complete orders for at least a few hours each day. The amount of financial support will depend on the order history: for one day, it will amount to half of the average net income for the last six months.

The financial assistance will be provided for 14 days of illness or quarantine. The minimum support amount is set at 30,000 drams, even if the calculation based on the last six months' average daily income suggests a lower figure. There is no maximum limit for the amount.

“Due to the spread of the virus and the measures taken, people must stay at home, but sometimes trips are simply necessary, not to mention the need for deliveries. Therefore, drivers are not just going out on the routes and completing orders, but are helping people live as full a life as possible in a quarantine situation. We are hopeful that all drivers will be healthy, but if they have to face the illness, we will definitely support them,” says Aram Sargsyan, head of Yandex.Taxi for the EMEA and CIS regions.

To receive support, a driver must apply through the Yandex.Taxi app, specify what has happened, and send photos of documents confirming the illness or quarantine.
