It is impossible to determine the exact location of a mobile phone or smartphone. The government must provide an explanation, MP says
Armen Yeghiazaryan, a member of the "Bright Armenia" faction, wrote on his Facebook page:
“On April 1 of this year, I reached out to Vivasel, Ucom, and Beeline companies and asked for information on whether it is possible to determine the exact location of a mobile phone or smartphone in a 3D (X,Y,Z) space via GPS and triangulation. I inquired how, for example, it is possible to locate residents of the 2nd, 5th, and 14th floors of a 15-story residential building. Should all residents be located in the X,Y,Z space or only in the X,Y plane? The responses from the companies clearly indicate that they cannot implement the location services or that it is impossible to accurately locate a device, with deviations ranging from 20 to 100 meters. Consequently, the government’s proposed legislation cannot address the issue it was intended to solve. Therefore, the government must provide an explanation as to why this law was introduced and passed, as the idea they outlined is impossible to execute.”
