Under Which Conditions Each Child Will Receive 26,500 Drams – Details by Zaruhy Batoyan

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Zaruhy Batoyan, wrote on her Facebook page: “Today, the government approved the 9th measure for neutralizing the economic consequences of the coronavirus, which concerns children under 18 whose parents are not registered as employed and do not receive family benefits. The amount allocated for each child will be 26,500 drams.

The aim of the measure is to assist families with children under 18 who are facing social issues due to the difficulties arising from the spread of the coronavirus.

All families with children under 18 are eligible if none of the child’s parents or the single parent had registered employment as of March 12, 2020, and have not been admitted to temporary or permanent registered employment between March 12 and March 31, 2020.

Support will be provided in the form of a one-time cash payment of 26,500 AMD for each child. The support is granted based on an application submitted electronically by one of the parents through the website online.ssa.am, with applications accepted starting from April 15.

The data of the families receiving support will be published on the official website of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. A family can qualify for assistance if the children under 18 (or the sole child) and their parents (or the single parent) reside permanently in Armenia, and during the period from March 12 to March 31, 2020, at least one parent and the children were found in Armenia.

A family cannot be eligible if:

  • Either of the child's parents had registered primary or temporary employment between January 1 and March 1, 2020, and their average monthly salary exceeded 500,000 AMD during that period.
  • The child’s family was listed in the family deprivation assessment system as of March 12, 2020, or the family deprivation unit is above 28.01.
  • Either of the child’s parents was an individual entrepreneur whose activity was not suspended in accordance with Armenian legislation as of March 31, 2020.

Regardless of the identification rules set in the second point, all parents or families who are recipients of one of the measures confirmed by the Armenian government resolutions No. 358-L dated March 26, 2020, and No. 410-L, 411-L, 412-L dated March 30, 2020, are also eligible for this measure. However, if the calculation for assistance under this measure results in a larger amount for each child at 26,500 AMD, the recipient may refuse the support established by the mentioned resolutions and apply for assistance under this measure.
