Post-Coronavirus Era Will Place Greater Importance on Investment Issues: Nikol Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, chaired a meeting today at the government focused on the current state and promotion of investment policy. The discussion included heads and representatives of interested state departments, as reported by the Prime Minister’s office.
Pashinyan emphasized that the State Control Service has conducted studies regarding the quality of responses to investment proposals by government bodies. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss these findings and the actions needed to promote investments in the near future.
“I believe that in the post-coronavirus period, this topic will gain even greater significance, and we must be confident that we can analyze and respond to all reasonable investment proposals that will help us overcome the economic crisis, which is inevitable,” noted Nikol Pashinyan.
In the context of discussing the results of the State Control Service's study, the current situation of investment programs, existing problems, and possible solutions were addressed. Issues related to construction, tourism infrastructure, state property management, the preservation of monuments, and several other sectors were discussed. Officials provided details on the implementation processes of these programs.
Criteria for investment projects, effective mechanisms for their approval, and questions related to the competitive process were raised. The Prime Minister stated that the government’s aim is to ensure the rapid, clear, and quality organization of procedures aimed at promoting investment policy and to strengthen the government-investor connection, while providing support to potential investors. This requires filtering investment proposals, documenting the realistic ones, and responding as quickly as possible.
The head of government has instructed to refine the suggestions voiced during the exchange of ideas and present them for discussion.
