Police Receive Reinforcements from NSS, Military Police, and Emergency Situations Ministry
On April 1, under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, a regular meeting of the operational staff was held. According to information from the Armenian government, Tigran Avinyan stated, “Hello, dear colleagues. We are starting the regular gathering of the operational staff. As you know, yesterday we discussed and decided to extend the movement restrictions and the restrictions on types of economic activities for 10 days with certain adjustments and tightening measures. Today will be the day to clarify and fill in the gaps of that decision. However, interregional movement will be significantly restricted across the territory of the Republic of Armenia.”
A new regime of restrictions will also be introduced for individuals visiting workplaces, who will need to have certificates verifying their employment details starting tomorrow, provided by employers. I must note that the police force will be strengthened with units from the National Security Service, Military Police, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations to enhance our control efforts.
Additionally, I inform you that last night the National Assembly approved a legislative draft related to the state of emergency, which will allow us to filter individuals who have likely been in contact with an infected person as quickly as possible. Public transport will also be restricted. Although, again, public transport was not operating at full capacity, now, apart from the railways, no other public transport should operate.”
Participants in the meeting discussed issues related to the installation of special checkpoints, disinfection and anti-epidemic measures, and other upcoming steps.
