Gazprom Armenia Requests Regulatory Authority to Increase Gas Prices by 36% for Consumers Starting July 1
Gazprom Armenia has announced its intention to apply to the Public Services Regulatory Commission for the establishment or revision of gas tariffs. According to the announcement, Gazprom Armenia plans to raise the price of natural gas for consumers by 36% starting from July 1, 2020.
For consumers entitled to family or social assistance, the current price for each 1,000 cubic meters of gas is set at 100,000 drams for an annual consumption of up to 600 cubic meters. Gazprom Armenia proposes to increase this tariff to 135,909.6 drams.
However, the company plans to somewhat reduce the gas tariff for consumers with a monthly consumption of up to 10,000 cubic meters, offering a price of 135,909.6 drams instead of the current 139,000 drams for each 1,000 cubic meters.
It is worth noting that on January 1, 2019, the price of Russian gas sold to Armenia increased by $15, reaching $165 per 1,000 cubic meters at the border; however, the gas tariff for residents remained unchanged.
