Experts from Armenia and Israel to Hold Video Conference on Overcoming COVID-19
On March 22, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian held a phone conversation with Dr. Asher Shalmon, the Director of the International Relations Department of the Israeli Ministry of Health and the COVID-19 Coordinator for Israel, in accordance with an agreement made during a conversation with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the President's Office of Armenia.
Dr. Shalmon detailed the steps Israel has taken to overcome the coronavirus pandemic. During the conversation, the issue of potential assistance from Israel to Armenia was discussed, and Armenia's needs were clarified.
President Sarkissian and Dr. Shalmon agreed to organize a video conference in the coming days between specialists from Armenia and Israel to specify concrete directions for future cooperation and to take practical steps.
During the phone call, President Sarkissian also addressed the steps being taken in Armenia towards the development of medical engineering and the potential for cooperation with Israel in this field. Israel has modern medicine and an advanced healthcare system that could be instructive for Armenia.
A few days ago, following the phone conversation between the Presidents of Armenia and Israel, there was also a discussion initiated by President Sarkissian with Armenia’s Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan and Dr. Asher Shalmon. They shared the experiences of both countries in the fight against the coronavirus and agreed to continue professional communications. Israel’s experience in combating the coronavirus could be beneficial for Armenia.
