56 Citizens in Turkey, Efforts Underway for Their Return: Adonts

We are in control of the situation and we have 56 Armenian citizens in Turkey. Right now, we are actively working and preparing for their return. We have also requested assistance from the Mother See to address this issue.

During a press briefing of the State of Emergency Management Center on March 31, Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts responded to SHANTNEWS's question regarding reports of panic among Armenians living in Istanbul due to rumors that they must register at the Patriarchate to return to Armenia. He stated: “I would urge them not to be alarmed; however, to ensure their return, we must assess the situation, as it is impossible to evaluate the situation without registration and contact with our citizens. Objectively, we do not have a diplomatic representation in Turkey, and we are cooperating with the Mother See in this regard. There is no reason to fear registering there; the registration agenda is very narrow and highly limited, and it is solely a matter of returning to Armenia,” the deputy minister responded.
