13-Year-Old Girl Brutally Beaten in Gyumri Can Now Walk with Doctors' Assistance

A 13-year-old girl who was severely beaten in Gyumri weeks ago and hospitalized in critical condition is now able to walk, albeit with the assistance of doctors. Gevorg Derzhan, the press secretary of the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center, reported this on his Facebook page.

“Good news: the 13-year-old girl who was subjected to violence in Gyumri and transferred to the hospital in extremely serious condition can now walk, currently with doctors' assistance. She continues to be under the care of the doctors at Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center and is receiving the necessary treatment,” Derzhan stated.

On March 5, at 15:40, the Mush police department received a report from the hospital that a 13-year-old girl had been brought in with “traumatic shock and closed cranial-cerebral injury” from one of the houses on Proshyan Street in Gyumri. When the operational team arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of the girl's mother, 43-year-old Marine K., showing signs of violence.

Through immediate operational-investigative measures, Gyumri police identified certain circumstances of the incident. As a result, a 28-year-old man was identified and taken into custody on suspicion of committing the crime. He has been presented to the investigating body for further proceedings.

The beaten 13-year-old girl underwent surgery in Gyumri on March 5 and was later transferred to the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center in Yerevan.
