Measures for One-Time Support to Socially Vulnerable Groups Discussed
Today, a regular consultation was held at the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the anti-crisis measures aimed at neutralizing the consequences of coronavirus were discussed, as reported by the official website of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
The discussion continued regarding the scope of beneficiaries of social support, the mechanisms for providing assistance, and a number of related issues. In addition to the programs approved at the previous cabinet meeting, new measures developed through inter-agency collaboration were introduced, proposing to provide support to certain sectors for registered workers who have become unemployed and are forced to remain idle due to the coronavirus.
The assistance will be provided in the form of a one-time benefit, stemming from the logic of the government's steps aimed at both social support and mitigating economic downturn. The discussion revolved around the tools for implementing this support, including regulations related to the allocation process, deadlines, amounts, and other issues.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that the government is working concurrently on interconnected solutions to health, social, and economic problems, emphasizing that this one-time support is intended to encourage working individuals and should be provided as quickly as possible. The Prime Minister instructed the relevant bodies to work in an emergency mode and finalize the packages of measures discussed in a short timeframe for approval at the cabinet meeting.
