Women Appointed as Heads of Police Division and Department

An unprecedented event has occurred in the history of Armenia: women have been appointed to the positions of heads of a police division and a department, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on his Facebook page.

Specifically, police lieutenant colonel Meline Yeghshatyan has been appointed as the head of the Gugark Police Division, while police captain Zhanna Shahnazaryan has been appointed as the head of the Tsakhkadzor Department.

This move is in line with our government’s policy of increasing women’s involvement in all areas of public life. I wish Meline Yeghshatyan and Zhanna Shahnazaryan success. It won’t be easy, but I believe that their example will inspire many women, and men will become more responsible,” said the Prime Minister.
