Urgent: Number of Confirmed Coronavirus Cases in Armenia Reaches 72
In Armenia, 8 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded. According to Armenpress, this was announced by the Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, on his Facebook page.
"We have 8 confirmed cases, some of which were already in isolation, while the contact tracing for the others is being determined. One of them is connected to the 'Vagharshapat' case, while the other 7 are linked to a 'factory' outbreak. In total, we currently have 72 confirmed cases, of which 1 has recovered," noted Torosyan.
The Armenian government has decided to declare a state of emergency in the country. This decision was made during the executive session on March 16, taking into account the spread of the novel coronavirus worldwide and its designation as a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
"A state of emergency is declared throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia from 18:30 on March 16, 2020, until 17:00 on April 14, 2020," the government’s decision draft states.
