Sample Collection for COVID-19 Testing Conducted on Three Soldiers
Sample collection for COVID-19 testing has been conducted on three soldiers. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan.
In order to prevent the penetration and spread of the new coronavirus infection in the Republic of Armenia, necessary anti-epidemic and preventive measures are being implemented within the armed forces. Considering that in addition to conscript soldiers, there is also a contingent of contract servicemen (officers, sergeants, contract soldiers) who are in direct contact with the civilian population, epidemiological inquiries and medical examinations are conducted on a regular basis.
Currently, samples have been taken for COVID-19 testing from three contract servicemen, one of whom has a family member confirmed with the virus. The soldiers are from the same military unit that is not involved in combat missions.
In accordance with a pre-developed plan, isolation of close contacts has been arranged under necessary conditions, while other contacts are self-isolating. Military medical institutions are equipped with the necessary resources, and medical personnel are prepared to provide appropriate treatment for potential patients with the new coronavirus infection.
