Approximately Three Dozen Armenian Citizens in Georgia Depart for Armenia
Approximately three dozen Armenian citizens who were in Georgia have departed for Armenia.
As previously reported, the movement of citizens through the Sadakhlo checkpoint has been restricted due to the imposition of a strict quarantine regime in the Marneuli and Bolnisi districts of Georgia (the restrictions do not apply to cargo vehicles).
As a result, the Armenian Embassy in Georgia negotiated with the Georgian side and received permission to facilitate the transportation of Armenian citizens who wish to travel from Georgia to Armenia across the Georgian-Armenian border.
The embassy initially issued an informative announcement and then spent two days collecting data from Armenian citizens wishing to return to Armenia.
Today, using a corridor granted in the Marneuli area and accompanied by the patrol police, the embassy successfully transported approximately three dozen Armenian citizens to the Georgian-Armenian border and assisted their passage into Armenian territory.
It is noteworthy that over forty Armenian citizens had initially expressed a desire to leave, but some later opted out of traveling to Armenia.
The embassy will continue to collect data from Armenian citizens in Georgia who wish to return to their homeland and will facilitate their transportation as necessary.
