‘Joghvour’ Highlights Inaction of Law Enforcement: The Unpunished Mayor of Goris at the Center of a Scandal Once Again
The Mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, has found himself entangled in a scandal once again. According to media reports, he and his deputy, Menua Hovsepyan, have allegedly kidnapped and assaulted Gurgen H. A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Syunik region in relation to this incident.
According to information received by 'Joghvour' daily, the preliminary investigation body has summoned Arush Arushanyan for interrogation, to which he responded that no incident occurred, denying any involvement in the kidnapping or assault, and he does not accept responsibility for any wrongdoing. This suggests that, as in past incidents, Arush Arushanyan continues to deny having committed such acts.
It should be noted that this is not the only story surrounding the Mayor of Goris; however, experience has shown that law enforcement often overlooks his actions. Even after the Velvet Revolution in 2018, there have been several cases where the mayor managed to evade accountability.
Moreover, 'Joghvour' has learned that his name is also linked to a criminal case initiated in 2019, and law enforcement has sent his signature for examination to determine if he signed off on decisions related to the case. It turns out that there are two criminal cases under investigation in the Syunik regional investigative department concerning Mayor Arush Arushanyan.
