Arsen Torosyan: 151 Regular and 13 Intensive Care Beds Soon to be Available at ‘Nork’ Hospital
The Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, announced on his Facebook page: “Today, I visited medical facilities designated for the treatment of special coronavirus patients to get acquainted with the ongoing service delivery and construction works.
Many patients are currently receiving treatment at the medical centers listed below, but the bed capacity continues to expand.
At the ‘Nork’ infectious disease hospital, we will soon have 151 regular and 13 intensive care beds. An additional 40 beds will be available in a newly constructed module for patients awaiting diagnosis, the construction of which has been slightly delayed due to technical reasons. It will be ready in the coming days.
We have also decided to install a computed tomography (CT) scanner in the infectious disease hospital, again in the modular building, the construction of which has already begun. This CT scanner is necessary for the early detection of coronavirus pneumonia.
At the police hospital, we will soon have 170 regular and 14 intensive care beds.
At the orthopedics center, we will soon have 140 regular and 16 intensive care beds.
In the maternity wing of St. Astvatsatsin Medical Center, located in the Malatia-Sebastia neighborhood, we aim to expand to 76 regular and 48 intensive care beds.
At present, we have 41 artificial ventilation devices specifically for coronavirus patients, none of which have been used yet. New acquisitions are, of course, being carried out, albeit with difficulty.”
