Steps Being Taken to Import New Batches of Coronavirus Tests and Masks, Says Prime Minister

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting of the commission coordinating the efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia was held at the government office. This was reported by the information and public relations department of the Prime Minister's office.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that all analyses indicate that the situation related to coronavirus may last much longer than originally expected or predicted. “In this regard, we need to form specific concepts on how we will organize life in our republic. The general logic and strategy should be the following: in the context of coronavirus restrictions, we need to find and create, so to speak, free and safe spaces where we can organize our lives under relatively safe conditions, constantly following the developments,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

“One thing is evident: there are huge uncertainties regarding the coronavirus situation around the world, meaning that as of today, there is no country that can declare that it has clearly managed the situation. The most unexpected information is coming in. For example, I read yesterday that in one of the most developed countries in the world, I do not want to mention the name, they officially admitted that they have a deficit of tests and are unable to test the required number of citizens, and so forth. Thus, we are working under such conditions and must continue with the same logic,” stated the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government's activities should be divided into two parts or logics. The first should be the activities of the commandant's office, which will regulate operational issues, and the second should be the development and logic of anti-crisis and strategic steps, so as not to face collapses in this situation.

Subsequently, officials reported on the progress of the work being carried out to prevent coronavirus. It was noted that steps are currently being taken to import new batches of tests and masks. Deputy Prime Minister and Commandant Tigran Avinyan emphasized that the situation regarding coronavirus prevention is currently under control in the republic, and all attention is focused on preventive measures.

Health Minister Arsen Torosyan added that among the 194 individuals infected with coronavirus, there are no severe or critically ill patients, and the condition of all is assessed as satisfactory.
