German Chancellor Angela Merkel has self-isolated after coming into contact with a doctor who has tested positive for coronavirus. The Chancellor will continue to fulfill her duties from home quarantine. This was reported by Interfax, citing the Chancellor's official representative, Steffen Seibert.

“The Chancellor has been informed that the doctor who vaccinated her against pneumonia on Friday evening underwent a coronavirus test, which returned positive. For this reason, the Chancellor has decided to urgently enter home quarantine,” Seibert stated.

According to the source, Merkel will undergo regular checks in the coming days until a clear result is obtained.
