22 Media Outlets in Armenia Asked to Remove Content
Following the declaration of a state of emergency on March 16 to prevent the spread of the new type of coronavirus in Armenia, the Police of the Republic of Armenia has urged 22 media outlets to remove content that does not align with official information. This was stated by the Deputy Chief of Police, Hayk Mhrkyan, during a press conference.
“Up to this point, divisions of the Police of the Republic of Armenia have worked with 22 mass media organizations and urged them to remove materials that contradict the instructions of the government and specifically the emergency state,” Mhrkyan noted.
As of March 23, there are a total of 194 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Armenia. The Armenian government has declared a state of emergency, which is in effect throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia from 18:30 on March 16, 2020, until 17:00 on April 14, 2020. The first confirmed case of coronavirus in Armenia was recorded on March 1, when a citizen returned from Iran. He has since recovered and been discharged. The second recovery was registered on March 21.
