Syria Suspends International Air Travel Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

The Syrian authorities have decided to suspend international air travel in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic. This was announced by the country’s Minister of Transport, Ali Hamoud, as reported by РИА Новости.

It was noted that the Moscow-Damascus flight, which will be the last, is scheduled for today.

At the same time, it has been reported that officially, there have been no cases of coronavirus infection registered in Syria to date. Recently, the Syrian government imposed strict restrictions, which included halting air travel with several countries that have high rates of coronavirus infections. The land border with Lebanon has also been closed.

Restaurants, cafes, museums, and other places where large gatherings of people might occur have been closed across the country.
