Only 14 Coronavirus Patients Experience Pneumonia

With 190 confirmed cases of coronavirus, the health condition of most individuals is satisfactory and they do not have serious health issues. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, during a live broadcast on Facebook, presenting the health status of COVID-19 patients.

"Only 14 of them have pneumonia, and among those, six require intensive therapy and are located at the 'Nork' infectious disease hospital, receiving appropriate treatment and oxygen. However, they are not intubated, meaning they are not on artificial respiration. The health status of those six individuals is assessed as stable and not severe, but it requires constant monitoring, which is being implemented," he said.

The Minister noted that as already known, the disease mainly complicates conditions for individuals with chronic illnesses and the elderly, and there are accompanying health issues in those six patients, which is why intensive therapy is necessary. "The other patients with pneumonia are receiving symptomatic treatment, while others, as such, are not receiving special treatment, only antipyretics, and are under medical supervision," he added.

Torosyan revealed that soon many citizens will reach the 14th day of their isolation, and after testing, they will likely be escorted to their residences for daily life. Additionally, some citizens will complete their treatment period of 14 days and will also be tested, expressing hope that the virus will have disappeared.
