Iran Surpassed by Germany and the USA in Number of Coronavirus Cases

The number of individuals infected with the new type of coronavirus, COVID-2019, has surpassed 276,000 globally. According to data from coronavirus research centers reported by Armenpress, the death toll exceeds 11,000. Notably, on March 21, there was a significant increase in the number of recoveries, exceeding 91,000, up from 88,000 reported on the evening of March 20.

China continues to hold the first place in the number of infected individuals, with a total of 81,008 cases reported, although a decline in new cases is observed.

Italy holds the second position with a high number of infections, recording 47,021 cases. It is also the European country with the highest mortality rate due to the virus, totaling 4,032 deaths.

Spain has now surpassed Iran, becoming the third most affected country with 21,571 confirmed cases and 1,093 deaths.

As of March 21, Germany and the USA have also surpassed Iran in terms of infected individuals. Germany reports 19,848 cases, while the USA has 19,774 cases.

Iran, which had been in third place for a long time, now ranks sixth with 19,644 cases. France has reported 12,612 cases, South Korea 8,799, Switzerland 5,615, and the United Kingdom 3,983.

According to the World Health Organization, the number of countries and territories with recorded infections exceeds 180, with confirmed cases in Nigeria, Somalia, Chad, Gambia, Zimbabwe, and more.

In Armenia, 24 new cases of coronavirus have been registered. This information comes from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Health. As of 10:00 AM on March 21, the total number of confirmed cases in Armenia stands at 160, with one person having recovered.
