At least 20 Vaccines Against COVID-19 Currently in Development, WHO Says
Several countries are engaged in the development of vaccines against the COVID-19 virus. According to Maria Van Kerkhove, a WHO expert, around 20 vaccines are currently being developed worldwide.
"Research centers around the world are accelerating the development of a coronavirus vaccine. At present, at least 20 vaccines against COVID-19 are in development. Their first clinical trials have already begun," Maria Van Kerkhove stated at a press conference.
"The only thing that could be more dangerous than a bad virus is a bad vaccine. We need to be very careful regarding the development of any product that is likely to be presented to a large portion of the global population," she added.
It is known that as of now, there have been over 276,462 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection worldwide, with 11,417 fatalities. More than 91,954 people have recovered.
