Russia Begins Trials of New Coronavirus Vaccine
The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Russian Federation has started trials of a new coronavirus vaccine. This information was published on the official website of the service.
It is noted that the prototype vaccine has been developed in a very short time frame. Researchers have succeeded in creating a vaccine based on recombinant vectors of viruses that cause influenza, measles, and vesicular stomatitis, as well as technologies for synthetic vaccines.
Vaccine testing is usually conducted on laboratory animals such as rats and mice. The outbreak of the new coronavirus, COVID-2019, was recorded at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a densely populated city in Central China with a population of 12 million. The World Health Organization has characterized it as a pandemic. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide exceeds 240,000. In Russia, the coronavirus has been confirmed in 199 individuals, with one death reported.
