The Government Will Not Fall Into Panic, Emotional and Uncalculated Decisions Will Not Be Made: Prime Minister
“There is a general perception that life in the world will no longer be as it was before the coronavirus, but it is currently difficult to predict what it will be like, starting from changes in consumer behavior,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government meeting on March 19. He noted that in this context, their message to businesses and the public is that now is the time to reorganize and redesign all types of businesses and activities so that they are competitive in the post-coronavirus world.
The government usually finds it much easier to be subjected to emotional pressure from political bodies when evaluating programs, and as a result, we may fall victim to the temptation of inefficient use of funds. Therefore, we need a specialized and non-emotional body to assess the programs, which is ready to take on certain risks and conduct specific evaluations.
“There is a group formed to implement economic anti-crisis measures, which comprises the government’s economic bloc, members of parliament are involved, and they will be monitoring the pulse of the economy,” the Prime Minister indicated. Nikol Pashinyan also mentioned that he receives dozens of panic-laden letters every day and urged everyone to remain calm.
“The government will not fall into panic, emotional and uncalculated decisions will not be made, and each decision will again be reviewed to ensure that it serves the purpose of development. I insist again that now is the most suitable time to launch a development strategy, because the world is transforming. The old world is crumbling before our eyes, and in the new world, we must present ourselves with an entirely new face, strength, and image,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
