COVID-19: The Number of Recoveries Worldwide Exceeds 85,000

The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has exceeded 220,000 worldwide. According to data from research centers monitoring the coronavirus, a total of 225,381 individuals have contracted the virus, with 9,276 fatalities and 85,831 recoveries. The virus has spread to more than 170 countries and regions across the globe.

Statistics:
China continues to lead the world in the number of infected cases, where the outbreak originated. The number of infections in China is close to 81,000, showing a positive trend with a decrease in newly reported cases. Italy holds the second position, with over 35,710 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and faces one of the highest death rates in Europe, with 2,978 deaths reported to date. Following Italy, Iran has reported 18,407 confirmed cases and over 1,200 deaths. Other countries with a high number of infections include Spain with 17,147 cases, Germany with 13,083, the USA with 9,464, France with 9,134, South Korea with 8,565, Switzerland with 3,347, and the United Kingdom with 2,626.

There is a positive trend in the epicenter of the pandemic, the city of Wuhan in Hubei province, China. For the first time since the outbreak, on March 18, no new cases were reported. According to the Hubei Provincial Health Commission, the death toll in the province has increased by 8, with 50,005 infections in Wuhan and 67,800 in the entire province. On March 18, a total of 795 individuals were discharged from hospitals, bringing the number of hospitalized patients down to 6,636, including 1,809 in serious condition and 465 in critical condition.

In Canada, the number of confirmed cases stands at 690 as of March 18, 9:00 PM local time. The Canadian government's official website states that the highest number of cases has been reported in British Columbia with 231, followed by Ontario with 214 and Alberta with 119. 52% of reported cases involve men, and 31% are individuals aged 60 and over. Of the total confirmed cases, 11% have been hospitalized, and 9 deaths have occurred. 69% are travelers, while 13% are individuals who have been in close contact with them.

In Ukraine, as of March 19, the number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus stands at 16. The Ministry of Health has reported that the Public Health Center had 79 suspected cases as of March 18, with 2 testing positive. The center is investigating not only those with clear suspicions but also people who have come into contact with them. Since the beginning of 2020, there have been 260 reports of suspected coronavirus cases in Ukraine.

Another confirmed case of coronavirus infection has been reported in Kazakhstan. According to the official website of the Ministry of Health, the new case has been recorded in the city of Almaty. As of March 19, 8:00 AM, there are 37 confirmed cases in Kazakhstan, with 19 in Almaty and 18 in Nur-Sultan.
