The Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso Exhibition at the National Gallery Will Be Extended
The "Dalí and Picasso" exhibition, featuring over 200 works—including sculptures, ceramics, graphic art, and ceramic pieces from the private collection of Alexander Shadrin, president of the Arts of Nations Foundation, will be extended.
Anush Nikoghosyan, head of the press service of the National Gallery of Armenia, confirmed this in an interview with Armenpress.
“Gallery Director Arman Tsaturyan has reached an agreement with collector Alexander Shadrin to extend the exhibition. However, we cannot specify how much longer the exhibition will be extended. This is due to the situation created in the country as a result of the spread of the coronavirus,” noted Nikoghosyan.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition took place on March 6 at the National Gallery of Armenia. It was initially supposed to be open until April 26.
This exhibition project has been presented in many countries. The collection, which Shadrin has accumulated over 15 years, is the fourth largest among private collections and includes the largest collection of Dalí's sculptures and one of the most prominent collections of Picasso's ceramic works.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia, a state of emergency has been declared for one month, from March 16 at 18:30 to April 14 at 09:00. Many mass events have been postponed or canceled. Cultural institutions have temporarily suspended their activities. Some of them are trying to maintain public engagement through online platforms.
